MY VISION
To help publications, businesses and organizations break away from the clutter with reader-grabbing articles that transform a topic -- a person, a business, a technology -- into engaging narrative that tells a story. |

ABOUT ME...
After working in the world of corporate publications for ten years, I founded my freelance writing business in April 2000 to offer writing, editing, and communications support for both internal and external audiences. Clients and publications including IA.biz magazine, Iowa Commerce, The Iowan, Iowa Gardening, and Rockwell Collins have enlisted me to create:
Feature articles and business articles for regional magazines - from a "how to" piece on venture capital ideas for tech startups to a leisurely look at the generations of people who have made their lives on the lake in Okoboji, Iowa
Articles for business magazines, online commentary, and trade publications -- highlighting emerging topics including bad-for-business legislation, disruptive technology, and anything new and important in the realm of Iowa business
Corporate magazine features -- subjects ranging from new technologies, initiatives, and acquisitions to the nuts and bolts of Lean process and the people behind the products
Executive speeches -- audiences./forums include local economic development, international business, CEO forums, educational and government groups and technology symposiums

SPECIALIZED BACKGROUND AREAS INCLUDE:
Business: Lean process/Lean manufacturing, continuous process improvement, LEED/green operations, recycling
Science and tech: Aviation electronics, biotechnology, open architecture/modular design, food safety
Human Resources: benefits communication, corporate recycling programs, ergonomics, staffing/recruiting/retention issues, mentorship, ethics, diversity
Other Stuff: I have a natural, geeky interest in all things science and technology, as well as the histories behind communities, businesses, and technologies. I firmly believe that there is no such thing as a "boring" subject... only boring presentation. |
